Provincial Almoners Letter from Andover

On a happier note, the forthcoming promotions to Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank have been announced and our congratulations go to W. Bros. Kevan Brooks, Stephen Brown, Mark Gannaway and Paul Skelton who will all receive the honour on the 12th December this year, I hope as many as possible will be present to witness this honour being conferred. All are well deserved and they realise that it is not only for what they have done for the Province but also that they will continue to make a significant input. Well done to you all.

Recently Loveland Mark Lodge at Winchester received an Official Visit from the Provincial Grand Master and his escorting Officers, when the Lodge was repurposed and became a Scouting Lodge. The P.G.M. of the Mark and Craft were elected Honorary Members and five Joining Members were elected. This has strengthened this Lodge and I hope that it continues to go from strength to strength. It was a very convivial evening with a pleasant result.

I have been a little under the weather for a couple of days having suffered from a sore throat and cold. Tests for covid proved negative but I am aware that the virus is still very active and is accounting why some brethren are cautious about attending meetings. Who looks after the Almoner when he is not well, I have a good wife who did an excellent job.

On Sunday I will be attending the Mid Term Luncheon arranged by the Provincial Wardens. I hope that it goes well for them, and those attending, at the same time making some monies for their charities. It is quite a task arranging these events and I wish the Wardens every success in this venture.

The day started with a frost so perhaps the grass may not grow so quickly. I did manage to get out during the week and make the lawns look a little smarter but still have a large area of dead grass. At present it is a matter of trying to keep the garden tidy as we approach the winter season.

Look after yourselves and one another. Keep those important channels of communication open.

Best wishes.

Malcolm Lloyd, P.G.S.D., Prov. Grand Almoner
