He is a loyal supporter of both the Mark and RAM, and had no qualms about taking the chair during the absence of the Worshipful Commander despite it being his 80th Birthday on the day of the Lodge meeting. Despite being low in numbers, the Christchurch Mariners, assisted by a couple of visitors performed a demonstration of the ceremony of elevation, as well as dealing with the normal business of the Lodge.
