The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons held their Annual Mess Curry Night on Monday 9 December 2019 at Botley Masonic Centre. A total of 60 Officers were in attendance including the Provincial Grand Master R.W. Bro. George J. Deacon, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Brian Ridler, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, V.W. Bro. W. Peter Lewis and Officers of Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge. This was an informal occasion with everyone enjoying an excellent curry.
The Deputy Grand Master proposed a toast to the Provincial Grand Master and requested him to make a presentation to the Botley waitress staff in gratitude for their hard work during the year. The Provincial Grand Master responded by saying that this Mess Curry Night had been in existence for the last few years and had proved to be a great success. He thanked the Officers for all their support at many super occasions throughout the year.
He further added that Lodges throughout the Province have given some unbelievable donations to the Mark Benevolent Fund during the year. Many charities have benefited from these donations with cheques still to be given to the Salvation Army Christmas Shelter on the Isle of Wight and to the revolutionary Southampton Immunology treatment centre. He also reminded Brethren that if any of their Lodges were struggling they should give the Mark Provincial Office a call and the Provincial team will provide help and support at meetings.
Finally the Provincial Grand Master presented a MBF Grand Patron Gold Collarette to the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V.W.Bro. Brian Ridler and a Patron Collarette to W.Bro. Paul Coppin. He thanked everyone for their fantastic support this year, wished them a Happy Christmas and New Year, and he is looking forward to the forthcoming year. The Wardens raffle raised £315 for their chosen charities and both the Provincial Grand Senior Warden and the Provincial Grand Junior Warden thanks everyone for their very kind donations tonight, and throughout the active year so far.
