The Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. George J. Deacon, accompanied by Officers of Provincial Grand Mark Lodge visited Harmony Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 875 on Tuesday 19 November at the Masonic Hall, Fareham. The Immediate Past Master W.Bro. Nigel Linfield was in the Chair as the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. Trevor Williams, was unable to attend due to illness. Bro. Alan Mark Jones was the candidate for an excellent Ceremony of Advancement. W.Bro. Nigel was assisted by W.Bro. Keith Annand, PPrGSW, who entrusted the secrets, Bro. Mark Kay, presented the Working Tools and the Provincial Grand Master gave the “In Conclusion”.
The Provincial Grand Master welcomed the candidate, Bro. Alan into this Lodge and the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight. He said all the Officers had performed the ceremony extremely well, and had communicated the moral of the story with sincerity, and with a bit of humour!
The Provincial Grand Master requested Bro. John Kirby to be presented to him. He said that Bro. John works very hard for both Harmony Mark and Harmony RAM Lodges; “he never stops!” The Lodge had written to the Provincial Grand Master requesting that his hard work be recognised by the Province. The Provincial Grand Master had no hesitation in promoting him to PPrGrdStdB for his service and loyalty to the Mark Degree. The Lodge then saluted Bro. John with three in recognition of his preferment.
Bro. John Kirby thanked all the members of the Lodge for their support and particularly the late W.Bro. Harold Jupe, and, W.Bro. Ron Shipp, ProvAGStdB. He said he was “gobsmacked” with the award for something he loves doing and he will carry on for a lot more years yet.
At the Festive Board the Provincial Grand Master was presented with a cheque from the Lodge to go to the Mark Benevolent Fund and Hampshire and Isle of Wight 2026 Festival. This will enable the Lodge to receive the Grand Patron Gold Award. The Provincial Grand Master said it had been a cracking evening and that it had been an honour and a privilege to have been able to carry out three field promotions in this Lodge. It was another excellent turnout by the Provincial team numbering almost 30 Provincial Officers.
