The Assistant Provincial Grand Master of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, V.W. Bro. W. Peter Lewis, RAMGR, accompanied by Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge attended the Regular Meeting of Carnarvon Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 62 at Havant on 15 October 2019. The Worshipful Master W.Bro. Michael Mulvaney, PC, welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master following which he invited W.Bro. John Burrell, RAMGR, to take the Chair to enable him to carry out the ceremony of Elevation for his son Bro. Matthew John Burrell.
W.Bro. John Burrell, RAMGR, also presented the Signs, with W.Bro. David Henwood, ProvRAMGR presenting the Working Tools, and the 9 Steps being explained by the Senior Warden, Bro. Graham Lant. At the end of the ceremony W.Bro. John gave an explanation to his son of the Obligation, Palfrey Stone and the Ceremony. The original Morton Edwards Warrant, the Warrant from Mark Grand Lodge and the Centenary Certificate were exhibited to the Candidate pointing out that this is the "Oldest Royal Mariner Lodge in the World".
The Assistant Provincial Grand Master, V.W. Bro. W. Peter Lewis, RAMGR, congratulated Bro. Matthew on being Elevated into this fine Lodge. He was delighted to see W.Bro. John elevate his son on this very special evening. V.W. Bro. Peter had been present when Bro. Matthew had been advanced into the Carnarvon Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 62. He added that it was a privilege to attend this immensely enjoyable evening and whilst there is a lot of friendly banter in the Provincial team with W. Bro. John he had done a super job tonight.
