The ceremony took place in Guildhall Square, Portsmouth on Saturday 13th April prior to the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Mark Province of Hampshire & Isle of Wight. The new vehicle will be based in Portsmouth serving the County of Hampshire and is just one of 52
which have been secured thanks to a grant by the Mark Benevolent Fund to the Order of St John. The donation of over £3 million is providing new ambulances, treatment centres and support vehicles to St John Ambulance throughout the country over a two-year period 2018 and 2019.
In attendance from the Mark Degree was VW. Bro John Bell, Trustee of the Mark Benevolent Fund, the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro George J Deacon, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master VW Bro Brian Ridler, and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master VW Bro Peter Lewis. Resplendent in his St John Ambulance uniform was VW. Bro Jonathan Whitaker. The weather was warm and dry, which attracted a large gathering of on lookers to witness the handover of the ambulance.
The Province now looks forward to the handover of a second vehicle for use on the Isle of Wight in June.
