Donation to the Stroke Ward of Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth

In October 2019, our Provincial Almoner, W.Bro. Malcolm Lloyd was contacted by W.Bro. Nigel Boorn, the Almoner of Stradbroke Lodge of Mark Master Masons, No. 874, regarding the possibility of securing some equipment for the stroke Ward of Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. They wished to express their thanks on behalf of Bro. Roger Gibbs, who had been a patient the Hospital after suffering a stroke. Enquiries were made of the Occupational Therapy Team at F Ward, the stroke Ward, to find out exactly they would require.

After some protracted enquiries, involving a discussion with the MBF, an approach was made to the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro George Deacon. As a result of this it was agreed that the Province would present £800.00 to the Hospitals Charity on the understanding that the equipment would be purchase and used in the Stroke Wards. This was agreed and a "Sara Stedy" assistance frame was purchased by the hospital. A letter of gratitude has been received from the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity.
